Beschreibung
RAMI AV-535 is a bent whip antenna for the 138–174 MHz FM extended band, used for airborne communication in the public service and business bands. It is suited to belly mounting and has a female BNC connector. RAMI lists it as a direct replacement for the Comant CI 292-3.
The antenna is vertically polarized with an omnidirectional pattern, 50 Ω nominal impedance, a VSWR of 3.0:1 maximum and 100 W RF power capacity. It is finished in gloss white and rated to 350 mph and 50,000 ft. The installation instructions allow mounting on the top or bottom of the fuselage: three 7/32 in (5.6 mm) screw holes and one 5/8 in (15.9 mm) connector hole, drilled from the supplied template. A rubber pad goes between base and skin, a back-up plate inside; countersunk washers bite through the paint for the electrical bond. Mounting hardware, pad and back-up plate are supplied.
Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the FM radio model.
