AEROSPEC AS-AV-22 is a rod-style stub antenna for transponder and ADS-B use in the 1030–1090 MHz band, with a female BNC connector. It is an alternative to the RAMI AV-22, with the same band, 50 Ω impedance, VSWR of 1.3:1 maximum and BNC connector, and to the Comant CI-101, a BNC stub antenna for the same band.
The antenna is a quarter-wave stub with vertical polarization and an omnidirectional pattern. The radiator is solid brass with nickel plating, and the other metal parts are nickel-plated against corrosion. It is rated for up to 1 kW peak pulse power at 1 % duty cycle, speeds up to 350 mph (304 kt) and altitudes up to 50 000 ft. Height is about 8.5 cm (3.3 in), weight about 28 g (1 oz).
The antenna is mounted directly by its BNC connector. No TSO or ETSO is listed for the AS-AV-22. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service.
