Beschreibung
RAMI AV-532 is a receive-only VOR/LOC/GS V antenna for 108–118 MHz and 328–336 MHz. Its taper-ground elements of high-strength 17-7PH stainless steel are held in weather-sealed, compression-moulded Bakelite insulators. The antenna has 50 Ω nominal impedance, a VSWR of 2.0:1 maximum, horizontal polarization and an omnidirectional pattern, and weighs 11 oz (312 g).
The AV-532 has no coaxial connector: a transmission line with an integral balun attaches with eyelets to two #8-32 studs on the insulator. RAMI states that this balun cable is required for proper performance; it is not included with the AV-532, while the AV-532L version comes with it. The FAA has authorized the AV-532 to TSO-C40c. RAMI rates the antenna for 350 mph and 50,000 ft, with a drag of 3.42 lb at 250 mph.
RAMI names the top of the vertical stabilizer as the ideal location; the V may point forward or aft. The antenna mounts through two 13/64 in (5.2 mm) holes. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the NAV receiver model.
