Beschreibung
RAMI AV-801 is an active GPS antenna for 1575.42 ± 10.23 MHz, authorized by the FAA to TSO-C190. Its mounting footprint matches the standard ARINC footprint used on many general aviation aircraft up to and including business jets. The antenna has a female TNC connector and weighs 5.0 oz (142 g).
The built-in amplifier provides 26.5–30.5 dB gain, with a noise figure of 2.5 dB. The antenna is right-hand circularly polarized with a hemispherical pattern, 50 Ω nominal impedance and a VSWR of 1.5:1 maximum. It runs on 4.5–14.4 V DC at 40 mA typical, 60 mA maximum, and operates from −55 to +70 °C. Qualification testing covers RTCA DO-301 and DO-160G. RAMI designed it for handheld or panel-mounted GPS receivers.
RAMI specifies a location on top of the aircraft with an unobstructed 360° view of the sky in level flight, away from tail surfaces and large antennas, and a short coax run to the receiver; no additional ground plane is needed on a composite airframe. Four #6-32 screws with washers and nuts are supplied; the screw heads and edge are sealed with RTV. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the GPS receiver model.
