Garmin GA 60 (010-02286-00, unit P/N 011-04968-00) is the internally mounted LTE antenna for the Garmin GDL 60 data transceiver. Two TNC connectors serve the GDL 60 LTE main and LTE diversity ports. The antenna measures 162.4 × 27.3 × 75.0 mm (87.8 mm deep with connectors) and weighs 0.23 kg.
The GDL 60 needs a GA 60 or the external GA 61A for LTE service, which keeps avionics databases current and uploads maintenance and flight data. With the GA 60, the GDL 60 Wi-Fi client and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth access point each use an internal Wi-Fi antenna kit. The preferred location is in the forward upper fuselage under a plastic glareshield or behind headliners with line of sight to the windows, never in metal-enclosed bays and with no metal within 5 cm above the antenna. Garmin recommends 3 ft (0.9 m) separation from GPS and L-band antennas.
Four 8-32 pan head screws (not supplied) secure the antenna; the chassis is floating, so no bonding resistance applies. The GDL 60 Part 23 AML STC SA02019SE-D installation data covers the GA 60. A US AML STC is not automatic EASA approval; a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the installed Garmin avionics.
