Plane-Power R1224S-14 is a solid-state, PMA-certified aircraft voltage regulator from Hartzell Aviation, supplied for 14 V operation in a housing with eight mounting holes. It has built-in over-voltage protection, field short protection, reverse battery protection, an alternator-inoperative lamp function and precision load sharing for twin-engine installations. Two jumpers reconfigure it in the field for 14 V or 28 V; the 28 V version is the R1224S-28.
Hartzell lists the Plane-Power R1224 regulators as replacements for regulators from Ford, Electrodelta, Prestolite, InterAv, Wico and FVR, and the R1224B as the replacement on twin Cessna, Beechcraft and Vulcanair aircraft. The Plane-Power application guide assigns the recommended regulator by aircraft model and installed regulator. Installation follows the aircraft maintenance data and ends with a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type, the system voltage and the P/N of the installed regulator.
