BendixKing KA 92, P/N 071-01553-0200, is an active L1 GPS antenna in a compact, aerodynamically styled patch housing that mounts on top of the aircraft. It measures 4.30 × 2.70 × 0.70 in (109 × 69 × 18 mm) and weighs 0.27 lb (0.12 kg). Honeywell names it, together with the KA 91, as the GPS antenna for the KLN 90B, and the KA 92 is part of the basic KLN 90B installation.
The manual data gives a supply of 5 V DC ±0.5 V at 50 mA maximum, a nominal impedance of 50 Ω, a nominal gain of 26.5 dB, a noise figure of 2.3 dB and a speed rating of 600 kt TAS. The antenna goes on top of the fuselage near the cockpit, at least 3 ft from the VHF COM antenna, on a baseplate that is level within 5° in both axes. The cable is RG 400/U or RG 142B/U up to 40 ft with a TNC or BMA connector, with a maximum allowable loss of 8.0 dB.
P/N 071-01553-0200 is offered new or serviceable/overhauled. Replacing the antenna on a certified aircraft follows the approved data for the aircraft and ends with a release to service. Fit depends on the installed GPS navigator.
