Beschreibung
Becker 1A032, Becker Avionics article no. 0707.007-952, is a transponder rod antenna (type KEC-KC-89) with a BNC jack. Becker lists it as the antenna accessory in the installation manuals of the BXP6401, BXP6402 and BXP6403 Mode S transponders. The antenna is 83.1 mm (3.27 in) long overall and mounts through a 12.7 mm hole in skin up to 2.8 mm thick.
The antenna is fitted on the underside of the aircraft at a flat, horizontal location outside the shadow of structural parts; the lowest point of the fuselage gives the highest range. The supplied silicone rubber gasket is placed between the skin and the antenna. In wooden or plastic airframes, a conductive counterpoise plate of at least 400 × 400 mm is fitted inside the fuselage at the antenna location. Becker specifies RG-58C/U or RG-223/U cable (RG-223/U above 2 m), up to 5 m long with a total loss of no more than 3 dB. In a certified aircraft, the installation needs approved data and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the transponder model and the aircraft type.
