Beschreibung
RAMI AV-1 is a ground plane base station antenna for VHF communications with aircraft or ground vehicles in the 118–137 MHz band. It is a ground installation, not an airborne antenna. The radiator is a 1 in (25 mm) aluminium tube with four 3/8 in (9.5 mm) aluminium radials; all elements have a hexavalent-free passivation to MIL-81706 and MIL-5541. The antenna is 37 in (940 mm) high with a radial span of about 40.8 in (1037 mm).
It is vertically polarized with an omnidirectional pattern and 50 Ω nominal impedance. VSWR is better than 1.5:1 from 118 to 130 MHz and 2.0:1 maximum over 118–137 MHz; no tuning is required. The SO-239 connector takes a PL-259 plug, and a gap-type lightning arrestor is built in. RAMI rates the antenna for winds up to 100 mph.
The base slides onto a 1 in pipe or 1¼ in (32 mm) O.D. tube, which is not included, and is locked with three set screws. Radials, set screws, thread lubricant and a DANGER label are supplied. RAMI warns that installation near power lines is dangerous. The right version depends on the mounting mast diameter.
