TED Manufacturing 4-70-54 is an in-line GPS notch filter with BNC bayonet couplings, fitted in the coaxial line between a COM radio and its antenna. It removes COM transmitter harmonics at the GPS frequency: attenuation at 1575.42 MHz ±1.5 MHz is typically 52 dB, while insertion loss in the 118–137 MHz COM band is 0.1 dB at 50 Ω and a VSWR of 1.5:1. Each filter is individually tuned and checked. The body is nickel plated, the contacts are nickel with gold plating, and the operating temperature range is −55 to +85 °C.
On a certified aircraft, fitting the filter in the antenna line ends with a Certificate of Release to Service.
