AEROSPEC AS-AV-17 is a VHF COM antenna for mounting on the underside of the fuselage, covering 118–137 MHz with a BNC (female) connector and a four-bolt base. The impedance is 50 ohm, the VSWR 3.0:1 or lower, the polarization vertical and the pattern omnidirectional. Power capacity is 25–50 W.
The bent, low-profile fiberglass housing is mounted on a robust base with a white finish. The antenna is approx. 22 cm (8.75 in) high and weighs approx. 0.5–0.75 lb (8–12 oz). It is intended in particular for helicopters and low-wing aircraft, with operation up to 350 mph and 50,000 ft.
It is an alternative to the RAMI AV-17 and the Comant CI-122: like them, it is a bent whip for 118–137 MHz on a four-bolt base. No TSO or ETSO is claimed for it.
