RAMI AV-10 is a VHF COM antenna for 118–137 MHz, designed for high-performance aircraft with an aerodynamic four-bolt mounting base. It weighs 8 oz (227 g) at most and has a female BNC connector. AV-10 is the gloss white version; the gloss black version is AV-10(-GB) and the CARC black version AV-10(-B).
It is vertically polarized with an omnidirectional pattern, 50 Ω nominal impedance, VSWR of 2.0:1 maximum and 30 W RF power capacity. It is rated to 350 mph (304 kt) and 50,000 ft, with a drag of 2.70 lb at 250 mph. The FAA has authorized the AV-10 to TSO-C37d and TSO-C38d. RAMI lists it as a direct replacement for the CI 121.
A rubber pad, a back-up plate, mounting hardware and a drilling template are supplied. The 50 Ω coax and its BNC connector are not included. RAMI specifies at least 2 ft (0.6 m) from other antennas and reflective surfaces and a good electrical bond to a metal skin; on composite or wood aircraft, a ground plane of two crossed 48 in (1.2 m) copper wires is made inside the skin. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the COM radio model.
