Sky-Tec C12ST2 is a new 12 V gear-reduced starter for Continental engines, built by Hartzell Engine Tech as an FAA-PMA part. It belongs to the ST2 line with self-resetting clutch-type kickback protection and weighs 8.9 lb (4.0 kg).
The Sky-Tec application guide lists the C12ST2 for 12 V Continental O-200-A installations in the Cessna 150, American Champion 7ECA, Socata Rallye 100S and MS 880B, Jodel DR-1050, Taylorcraft F19 and Thorpe T-211, in place of the OE starters 50309 or 634464 (equivalent MZ-4214), and for the Cessna 310C with the IO-470-D. The C12ST2/S variant adds an integrated solenoid and is supplied as a complete STC kit for converting pull-cable start to electric push-button start.
Installation follows the aircraft maintenance data and ends with a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type, the engine model and the P/N of the installed starter.
