Beschreibung
Sky-Tec 122-NL/ec is a new 24 V in-line starter for Lycoming engines with a 122-tooth ring gear, built by Hartzell Engine Tech as an FAA-PMA part. The Sky-Tec application guide lists it for 24 V Lycoming O-235 installations in the Cessna 152, Piper PA-38-112, Beechcraft 77, Zenair CH2000 and Taylorcraft F21 and F22 series, in place of the OE starter LW-16207 (equivalent MMU-4001).
The NL series is solenoid-actuated with the solenoid inside the starter and no Bendix drive, has shear-pin kickback protection and weighs 9.3 lb (4.2 kg). The 122 models have 10/12 pitch. Unlike the 12/24 V switchable 122-NL, the /ec version is for 24 V only, and the jumper between the B+ and S terminals stays in place.
The starter is installed with the existing mounting hardware or approved replacements, torqued to 100 in-lb (11.3 N·m). Sky-Tec specifies a factory overhaul at 2,700 hours of engine operation or at engine overhaul, with no other scheduled maintenance. Installation follows the aircraft maintenance data and ends with a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type, the engine model and the P/N of the installed starter.
