Comant CI 157P is a receive-only V-dipole antenna for VOR/LOC (108–118 MHz) and glideslope (329–335 MHz). Its fixed elements are designed for the Piper aircraft mounting. The antenna is 18.0 in (457 mm) high, weighs 0.5 lb (0.23 kg) maximum and has a BNC connector.
An integral ferrite balun replaces a separate coaxial balun, and the radiating elements are not removable. The antenna is horizontally polarized with a dipole pattern and 50 Ω nominal impedance. The housing is Delrin and the whips are stainless steel. It is approved to FAA TSO-C34c, TSO-C38c and TSO-C40c and meets RTCA DO-192, DO-195 and DO-196.
The CI 157P is not approved for helicopter installations. Installation on a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the model of the installed NAV antenna.
