Comant CI 285 is a wide-band UHF blade antenna for 400–960 MHz, designed for high-performance aircraft. The low-profile, low-drag antenna has a moulded Lexan body with a polyurethane enamel finish on a metal mounting base, uses a six-hole mount and has a female N connector. It is 5.20 in (132 mm) high and weighs 0.75 lb (0.34 kg) maximum.
The antenna is vertically polarized with an omnidirectional pattern equivalent to a quarter-wave stub, 50 Ω impedance, VSWR of 2.0:1 maximum and a 100 W power rating. It is DC grounded for lightning protection and rated to 600 kt TAS at 25,000 ft.
Installation on a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the UHF radio the antenna will serve.
