Comant CI 310-20 is a blade antenna with a BNC connector for the 806–960 MHz UHF band and 1030–1090 MHz in L-band, built to FAA TSO-C74c Class 1A. It is 82.6 mm (3.25 in) high on a 127 × 47 mm (5.00 × 1.85 in) base, weighs 145 g (0.32 lb) maximum and handles 100 W average RF power.
The antenna is vertically polarized with an omnidirectional pattern equivalent to a quarter-wave stub, 50 Ω impedance and a VSWR of 1.75:1 at 806–960 MHz and 1.5:1 at 1030–1090 MHz. The molded high-density polyurethane body sits on a metal mounting base and is DC grounded for lightning protection. Comant rates it for −55 to +70 °C, 50,000 ft and 600 kt TAS at 25,000 ft, tested to RTCA DO-160C and DO-144. The same antenna is available with TNC (CI 310-22), C (CI 310-23) or N (CI 310-25) connectors.
The footprint needs four 5.2 mm (0.203 in) holes and a 14.6 mm (0.575 in) connector clearance hole. Installation on a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the equipment the antenna will serve.
