Beschreibung
Sky-Tec 149-12LS is a new 12 V lightweight starter for Lycoming engines with a 149-tooth ring gear, built by Hartzell Engine Tech as an FAA-PMA part. It belongs to the Sky-Tec PM/LS line with a permanent-magnet motor, weighs 8.25 lb (3.7 kg) and has the solenoid in the left-hand position.
The Sky-Tec application guide lists the 149-12LS as an alternate to the recommended 149-NL for 12 V installations of Lycoming O-320, O-360, IO-360, O-540 and IO-540 engines, mostly in place of the OE starter LW-15571 (equivalent MZ-4222). Listed types include the Cessna 172 and 177 series, Piper PA-18, Mooney M20, Maule M-4 to M-8 and Socata TB 9. Sky-Tec names the XLT line as the updated replacement for the LS model; the 12 V equivalent is the 149-12XLT.
Installation follows the aircraft maintenance data and ends with a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type, the engine model and the P/N of the installed starter.
