Beschreibung
RAMI AV-22 is a rod-style transponder antenna for 1030–1090 MHz. It is 3.00 in (76 mm) high, weighs 1 oz (28 g) and mounts on its own female BNC connector, which allows a small mounting hole. RAMI lists it as a direct replacement for the CI 101.
It is vertically polarized with an omnidirectional pattern, 50 Ω nominal impedance, VSWR of 1.3:1 maximum and an RF power rating of 1 kW peak pulse at 1 % duty cycle. It is rated to 350 mph (304 kt) and 50,000 ft, with a drag of 0.41 lb at 250 mph. The FAA has authorized the AV-22 to TSO-C74c.
RAMI specifies a location on the belly, at least 18 in (46 cm) from other metal protrusions and on as flat a surface as possible. The mounting hole is 0.500 in (12.7 mm) round, or 0.515 in with a flat at 0.476 in. The antenna is inserted from outside with its moisture seal and secured from inside with the nameplate, lock washer and hex nut on the BNC connector. The coax with a BNC connector is not included. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the aircraft type and the transponder model.
