RAMI AV-586 is a receive-only antenna coupler that splits the signal of one VOR/LOC/GS antenna into two outputs. It lets two navigation receivers, each with a single combined VOR/LOC/GS antenna input, share one antenna. The coupler covers 108–118 MHz and 328–336 MHz and has 50 Ω nominal impedance, a VSWR of 1.40:1 maximum, insertion loss of less than 0.6 dB above the 3.0 dB split and isolation greater than 22 dB. All three ports are BNC female, and the maximum weight is 0.25 lb (113 g). The FAA has authorized it to TSO-C34e, TSO-C36e and TSO-C40c.
The coupler is mounted between the antenna and the receivers with two holes drilled from the supplied template; a label on the bottom marks the frequency and the port connections. Cables and their connectors are not supplied. Installation in a certified aircraft needs an approved modification and a Certificate of Release to Service. Fit depends on the NAV receiver models and the aircraft type.
